CFI has been listed by the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) as one of the organizations inspiring Atlantic Canadians to make positive international change. This honour comes smack in the middle of International Development Week, CIDA’s effort to spread awareness about Canada’s active role in making the world a better place. Be being names as one of ACIC and CIDA’s Active-8, CFI has a chance of winning $1000, which will go to deliver sustainable programming in Pemba and beyond. The only catch is that we need your help. By following the link here and pledging to make positive change in your own community, you could help CFI and Executive Director, Jeff Schnurr, secure this valuable contribution

Champions of Change Finale Weekend

  • February 4, 2011 8:19 am

On January 16th, the CBC and Manulife concluded their Champions of Change program naming Bobby Hayes of the Joshua Group and Bob Davisson of Lifeline Haiti Canada’s top volunteers. I was honoured to be named as one of Canada’s top 5 international volunteers and will never forget the people I met through this experience. Each of the other 9 individuals nominated in the top ten category place their cause and their beliefs before their own personal interest. The decision to believe in the change we can all make, and the will to act upon this belief inspires me to keep working for positive environmental change, and I’m glad that Community Forests International, and I could be a part of it.

Thanks to the CBC, Manulife and the other Top Ten Champions of Change for making this happen. Additionally, I’d like to thank the members and supporters of CFI who made this campaign their own. Thousands of individuals voted for me, and I am thankful for your belief in my cause, and the dream of a sustainable future.

-Jeff Schnurr, Executive Director, CFI
