Furaha joined the project in 2009. Initially, several small community groups wished to establish private nurseries throughout the community. Mbarouk Mussa Omar, Community Forests Pemba’s Director, used his gift of diplomacy to link together the separate community groups in order to build a large nursery directly in the town’s center. Several of the trees grown in this nursery will be planted on a nearby school, creating a more favorable learning environment while providing fruit for students during the mango season.
The population of Furaha is 1,187 (581 male and 606 women) with an average age of 15.5. Furaha is located in Chake Chake District
