Community Forests Pemba
Realizing the need to alleviate pressure put on the marine environment through fishing, Pembans are planting their own forests to create new economic opportunities while benefiting the environment. Since the project began in 2006, 12 rural communities have worked to plant over 200,000 trees in Pemba.
Global Schools Link
Schools from Pemba connect to Canadian students to share the ways they are helping combat climate change. Global Schools Link empowers youth locally to make change globally by connecting individual efforts to a global network of similar initiatives.
Community Forests Canada
Following successful programming in Pemba, Tanzania, members of CFI thought they’d bring their message of sustainable community forestry to Canada. Now the organization has developed a land trust, offers education and community tree planting while working to establish a Community Forest.
