Mortise, Tenons, Pegs - No Nails!

Mortise, Tenons, Pegs - No Nails!

Community Forests International is excited to host a timber framing workshop this summer on October 1st, 2011, at our head office in Sackville, NB. This traditional method of construction has witnessed a revival over the last 40 years. Following this one-day course, you’ll have the know-how and hands-on training required to begin timber-framed projects of your own.

Making full use of the strength of heavy timbers, timber frame construction is based on mortise and tenon joinery, a style of building that makes use of opposing triangles to reinforce beams and posts without the use of a single nail or screw!

As the workshop opens, you’ll be introduced to the theory and math needed to design your own structure. Following this primer, you’ll be guided through various stations, allowing you to experience every aspect of timber framing as the group works toward the construction of a single project.

All tools will be provided by CFI.
