This July, join an international movement of generosity and solidarity. Your participation in Plant 4 Pemba will help farmers and families come out of the COVID-19 crisis stronger than before. Farmers in Zanzibar have already found solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges—and together, we can bolster their efforts to adapt in a changing world.
Thanks to the generous support of the European Development Fund, all contributions to Plant 4 Pemba this year will be matched up to $100,000. That means that a donation of $100 will unlock $1000 in support for farmers in Zanzibar. There has never been a more critical time to support island communities and now, your donation can go even further.
Donate today to support food security in the Zanzibar Archipelago!
The small islands we work on in Zanzibar are home to some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. Now the pressures they face are intensifying with the health and economic repercussions of COVID-19. Malnutrition and food insecurity were pervasive issues before the pandemic; now the isolated region could face the greatest food crisis in recent history. To respond, Community Forests International is working with our local partners to make this growing season the most productive yet by delivering support and materials to thousands of farmers—and we can’t do it without you!
We’ve moved quickly over the past few months, acquiring and distributing planting seed to over 2,000 farmers so far. This fast response has translated into hundreds of acres of food now growing in fields and agroforests across Pemba Island. Ongoing support now is critical to keeping up our momentum — enabling an expansion of our efforts to more farmers and the neighbouring Unguja Island. With your help we can reach our ambitious goal of supporting more than 15,000 people this year.
