Madeleine Smith - Intern

by Community Forests International on January 2, 2014

CFI’s most recent intern, Madeleine helped coordinate workshops, plan our AGM and brought some real insight to our visioning session this past summer.

Q: What was your first impression of CFI?

Well, I was a bit surprised at first. The large open office in the school house, people chatting and joking around. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it was different than I thought it would be. I was right there with everyone.

Q: Did you like it?

Yes! What I appreciate about the people that make up CFI is that they are all committed to being creative. I feel like I had space to learn and grow at my own pace. We worked really hard but we had a lot of fun doing it.

Q: Is there a moment that sticks out as being special?

When we all drove up to the clear cut above Whaelghinbran to survey the damage. It was the first time I was confronted with such destruction. It made me understand the importance of CFI’s work in New Brunswick.

Q: What was your favorite part of working at CFI?

Brainstorming sessions. It really surprised me how people were so open. No one tried to co-opt it. There was a willingness to explore different ideas and I felt that my participation was appreciated. It helped me understand what a work environment can be.

Thank you Madeleine! Your good humour and fun loving attitude warmed our hearts, and your insights (trend.http://forestsinternational.org/news/post/kubadalisha-mawazo) have helped us understand our organization better. Come back soon!
