A Community Helping Communities

Since 2008, hundreds of professional tree planters from across Canada and around the world have come together to plant trees and donate their earnings to support a movement for community-led resilience.

Today, Plant 4 Pemba has grown into our biggest annual fundraiser to support ecosystem restoration, agroforestry, and more across the Zanzibar islands.

Community-Led Solutions

Our work in Zanzibar is built on relationships of trust and respect, and the understanding that Community Forests Pemba and the community members we serve are the experts. Our role is to support and uplift this work, channelling resources to those on the ground. We prioritise a community-led approach and seek to actively listen and support community needs.

Take the Pledge

Founded and supported by Canadian tree planters since 2008, Community Forests International exists today because of hardworking, tree planters and allies. Together we strap on the bags and Plant 4 Pemba, giving what we can — a bag up, a half-day, or the whole thing — knowing we are planting to empower grassroots climate action.
